2) Your Windows Version (e.g., Win 11)
3) Your Screen Scaling Percentage (e.g., 125%).

:info: We strongly recommend adding your Windows Version and Screen Scaling Percentage to the Location field in your Profile or to your Signature. That way, you only have to type them once, and we won't have to search for that vital information.

App freeze while generating video thumbnails

Post by cal »

I was using the 32-bit latest version so I tried the 64-bit beta and it's the same, I thought 64-bit architecture would improve it.

I have lots of videos I was planning on using this app to tag, like in a folder with 500 videos, it'll create the thumbnails for videos viewable on screen but lock up for 1 minute or however long it takes to generate them. You can't click anywhere else, the app may stop responding and I have to close it. When that set of thumbnails is created, I scroll down for the next set of videos, it'll do the same thing and lock up until they are created. Makes the app unusable, I found a workaround which was to create all the thumbnails at once.

Is the tagging database compatible between the regular version and beta? Could I switch between the 2 without losing tags?

1) Currently thumbnail creation is done in the foreground thread. The speed depends on your thumbnail provider. Just let the process complete (drink a tea, relax), ensure that thumbnail caching is enabled, and all will be good and fast the next time you show those thumbnails.

1b) The 64-bit version will put this in a background thread later (probably 2026).

2) Yes.

That sounds great. It is creating kind of slow too, hopeful thumbnail creation will be faster in the future, maybe using multiple threads or something to speed it up.
