Just to verify: did you, after one half of files didn't show the problem, continue with the other half of files?

No, the next run was with half of the other half. And then half again. And on and on and ...

You can see that your logic breaks right there?

You need to identify the failing half in every step, let's say we have 100 files, test 1-50 vs 51-100, continue with the half that showed the problem, let's say 51-100, split them in halves and test 51-75 vs 76-100, and so on until you're testing the last two files and found your culprit.

I understand. But the problem file -never- showed up. In other words, the cache building was successful with each segment of files that I tried. Had XY hung while building the cache, I would've taken that batch, halved it, and tried again. But XY never went hung.

Next beta:

Code: Select all

    * Thumbnail Creation: The status bar now displays all items for which a thumbnail is
being created. Previously, some items were omitted. If there's a hang, you can now
see which item is causing it.

Thanks Don.

This should be helpful if I run into the issue again.

Am I correct in assuming that when/if XY hangs during thumbnail creation, the status bar will show the file that cause it?
