Toggle Configuration
Toggle Configuration
First of all I want to thank you for an excellent product. I find it amazing that a multi-billion dollar company like Microsoft can't get basic things right like navigating and organizing your files and folders.
Anyways, the one feature I use constantly is being able to toggle views from details to thumbs which I bound to a small button on my mouse. I don't know if this is possible but can I configure XY to toggle between list view (not details) and and a large thumbnail view? I've looked all over for this so I hope it's possible. Thanks again.

Re: Toggle Configuration
Hi TommyBoy!
Sure you can do this! There's a toolbar button for it called "Toggle Thumbnails", and there's an identical menu command in menu View / Current Tab / Views / Toggle Details/Thumbnails #1. You can assign a keyboard shortcut to it in menu Tools / Customize Keyboard Shortcuts... (Shift+F9).
The dimensions of Thumbnails #1 can be configured in Configuration/Thumbnails.

I think tommyboy is asking for a button to toggle between List and Thumbs like the current button which toggles between Details and Thumbs. While there is no one click solution to do this, Tommyboy can assign different shortcuts to list view and thumbs view and its easily achievable.
@Don: Do you think its possible to assign one shortcut to two commands (like list and thumbs here) and XY uses those shortcuts alternatively? For eg, if I assign ctrl+alt+v to both list and thumbs can XY alternate between those?? Personally, i dont mind it.
Or simply one single shortcut to cycle through all views.

WOW, I don't think I even could have gotten this kind of response / support from a multi-billion dollar company either.
Anyways, I changed the size of thumbnail 1 to be larger so that solved one of my problems. Like serendipity had mentioned though I was hoping to have the choice or be able to configure whether or not the toggle is between the list view or details view. Thanks again

Ah, yes, I read too sloppily... as a solution I could make a configurable Toggle View command/button where the users defines View1 and View2.serendipity wrote:I think tommyboy is asking for a button to toggle between List and Thumbs like the current button which toggles between Details and Thumbs. 1 KS for 2 commands: No. Only for 1 toggle command or 1 cycle command.

I think your solution would serve the best as opposed to my solution of 1KS 2 commands which is kind of hmmm strange (coffee deprived).admin wrote:Ah, yes, I read too sloppily... as a solution I could make a configurable Toggle View command/button where the users defines View1 and View2.serendipity wrote:I think tommyboy is asking for a button to toggle between List and Thumbs like the current button which toggles between Details and Thumbs. Once again, that would seem (on initial reading) to be a good way to handle this, as users might want to toggle between very differing options, and letting them define which would add flexibility without making it too convoluted.admin wrote:Ah, yes, I read too sloppily... as a solution I could make a configurable Toggle View command/button where the users defines View1 and View2.
Still spending WAY TOO much time here! But it's such a pleasure helping XY be a treasure!
(XP on laptop with touchpad and thus NO mouse!) Using latest beta vers when possible.

Re: Toggle Configuration
I just ran onto XYplorer last night. I've been using XTreeGold and then PowerDesk Pro. This is so much better.TommyBoy wrote:Anyways, the one feature I use constantly is being able to toggle views from details to thumbs which I bound to a small button on my mouse. However, I must be missing something. I wanted to set up the toggle that Tom refers to above. But to me, toggle implies pressing a key or a mouse button to go back and forth. I've found no key or button to do this. Searching "toggle" in the help file got me nowhere. When I click on the toolbars views button, it lets me select toggle details/thumbnails #1 but all that does is toggle it between checking thumbnails #1 or details. Heck, I could do that by clicking on one or the other myself.
So what am I missing? What is the "toggle key"?

The "Toggle details/thumbnails #1" toolbar button (shown as Toggle Thumbnails in TB setup) is a standalone icon that can be used for this function...if you want to use a keyboard shortcut, you can define one that that via the "Views" category, then within the "Current Tab"/Views section, it's listed as command #309.
At the present time, I don't believe that one can switch from List to Thumbs via this method as described above, as that was a "Wish" from what I've read.

Re: Toggle Configuration
When we have scriptable toolbar buttons and conditional logic in scripting, you can toggle about everything you want and stick it on a button. Patience, what's that????!?!?
..
Are we there yet??
Hey Don, sorry to bother but has there been any progress regarding the toggle list option? I just downloaded the latest version and didn't see anything so I was just wondering if I missed anything. I love being able to toggle thumbnails since I have the short cut bound to a mouse button but everytime I toggle back to detail view I have to go to the menu and change it to list view. Thank you again for such a valuable piece of software. I'm thinking about switching to a mac and XYplorer is one of those programs I keep thinking about in regards to making the jump. Most of the other apps I could care less about:) Thanks again

Not yet. Things have been slowed down a bit because I had to care for full unicode support and some other things first. And I'm still not through with it... so I can't make any promises here.TommyBoy wrote:Hey Don, sorry to bother but has there been any progress regarding the toggle list option?
