Full file name and color filters

Post by TommyBoy »

Hi, I have two quick questions regarding XY. When I go to thumbnail view is there an option to force the full file name so I don't get the ..? Is there an option to change the font size for XY without doing it through the system?

Also, I just started using color filters and I love them. The only problem I have is that on my D drive it's colored some of my normal folders as system folders. I don't get why it randomly selected some of the folders as system folders. When I also select to hide system folders it also hides those exact same folders. I am noticing that all the system, except for one have a different icon than the default if thats any help.

Thanks again for everything.

Full file name: no, no option available. You see the full name when you hover the mouse over it.

Font size: of course! Either through menu View / Font / Tree, List etc..., OR using the mouse wheel with CTRL.

Coloring depends on the order of your filter definitions: the first match from top will determine the color of the item.

Would this be a worthwhile FR? I'm often frustrated at either having to mouse over a file name to see the full name, or select it and see the full name in the Panel. So I'd like to see it, but I wonder if anyone else would find it useful?

I would find this useful too. I sometimes work with photos in thumbs mode and i have somewhat longish filename to include date, time location etc and XY cuts off the endings which is most important to me because I have the increment numbers last. :(
I would like to see full file names at the cost of several pixels (or rows) wasted. But then its upto user to choose whats important.
So +1 for this.

The thumbs' display columns currently have a minimal width of 120 pixels. I could make this configurable, however it will never be wide enough for very long file names.

Why don't you simply use the Details with Thumbs view?

You can't have everything at the same time. Unless you use shorter filenames! :)
