Drag and Drop crashes XYTB. v27.00.0605
I dragged the zip files into the XY directory, causing a repeatable crash.

Attempting to use 37.00.0604 on Win10
Since the early days of TB, I've been using it in a completely different directory from XYVB. I copied the entire VB directory to a new directory called XYTB. It has launched as expected until this most recent version. Now when I double click the TB.exe I get the "evaluation" screen. I checked the .ini file and my registration is there, yet I can only continue as a trial. When I do accept to run it as a trial, all my settings have gone back to default. This is the first TB version when this has happened.
How can I get XYTB to run without the evaluation screen popping up?
Thanks.

Re: +++ BREAKING NEWS: XYplorer goes twinBASIC +++
.0604 had a bug. Use .0605.

Re: +++ BREAKING NEWS: XYplorer goes twinBASIC +++
Thanks. I replaced .0604 with .0605 and it's showing as day 1 of the trial version and opens to the default settings. I deleted TB's .ini and copied over the .ini from VB, which had been working fine until now. But now I'm "evaluating."
EDIT: Typo

Re: +++ BREAKING NEWS: XYplorer goes twinBASIC +++
And 0605 runs fine with a lic.iniSpecial file "Lic.ini"
Instead of using "Admin.ini" with key Lic or keys Name and Code (see above) you can go yet another way to achieve the same: Place a file with the fixed name "Lic.ini" in the path of XYplorer.exe that contains the license data used to unlock the application. The contents of "Lic.ini" should look just as shown in the section here above (fill in your license data for <...>):

Name=<Your Registration Name>
Code=<Your Site License Key>

Re: +++ BREAKING NEWS: XYplorer goes twinBASIC +++
Thanks highend. .0605 now running as registered.
I typically launch XY with three locked tabs. I have Preferences > General > Startup & Exit with a permanent startup path being one of the locked tabs. However when starting TB, it opens a fourth tab showing the directory in which XYTB lives. I close the tab, exit TB, relaunch TB, and it again opens a fourth tab with the TB directory. I have saved after closing the fourth tab and I have done File > Exit (Saving) with no change of behavior.

Re: +++ BREAKING NEWS: XYplorer goes twinBASIC +++
New version of XYplorer compiled with twinBASIC BETA 802 (32-bit still):
XYplorerTB.exe, v27.00.0608, NOT digitally signed, zipped
+ Various fixes.
There will be glitches, there will be bugs. Work in progress.

Now with .0608 XYTB opens as expected. Although I must admit that I think the issue wasn't XYTB, but the desktop shortcut. After "installing" .0608 I replaced the shortcut and all is well. I realize I should have replaced the shortcut when I first noticed the issue.phred wrote: ↑10 Jun 2025 17:38 I typically launch XY with three locked tabs. Re: +++ BREAKING NEWS: XYplorer goes twinBASIC +++
Is it safe to use this new TB version in a current VB set up?
I mean, as mentioned above, where you simply copy the XYplorerTB.exe into an existing VB set up folder. Will it mess any settings up?
I do always keep backups, but wondered if it was ok to use like that.
Thanks.

To paraphrase Don, "there will be bugs, there will be glitches."
If you're using the Portable (no install) version simply copy the entire XY directory to a new location, such as XYplorerTB. Then copy the latest TB.exe to the newly created TB directory and let it overwrite the existing .exe. Then you'll have all your configuration and layouts and scripts and CFA and CEA etc. You can drag the TB exe to the desktop to create a shortcut, but make sure it's clear to you that it's the TB version.
Doing it this way you can have both versions open at the same time.
