Hi, i realized when i open a network subfolder in a tab, another tab with having for example root/folder C: selected (and all network folders are closed) also opens this network subfolder (only opens it on the left pane, not selecting anything other than c:) . This makes no sense to me and is disturbing the dedicated use of tabs.
Edit: the same happens vice versa (meaning in all tabs always the same folder structure is open)
Probably i was messing with the settings somewhere?
Any hints?
warm regards
H.

Re: same open folders in different tabs
Are you talking about the folder tree and the tabs? They are always in sync by default. But you can lock the tree if you're not interested in sync: menu Tools | Customize Tree | Lock Tree. But even then the tree will sync the location if it can without opening new branches.

Re: same open folders in different tabs
Hi, thanks ... i´m just wondering where the advantage in this tab-tree-syncing-behavior might ly?
Or to put it differently: i really like the ability to open tabs to keep specific, often used locations nearby (those favorites do change often, though and i do not want to define them as "favorites"), including the view of the tree.
But besides those "extra tabs" a lot of work is happening in standard folders close to root in the, lets say, "root tab".
Imagine you go to the 5th subfolder of a network drive with 100 subfolders each in a second tab. When you go back to your first "root tab" you are going to spend 4 clicks just to see the whole folder/tree structure again including a lot of scrolling.
I tried Tools | Customize Tree | Lock Tree but this not what i am looking for. I do like the selfopening foldertree a lot .... in the dedicated tab
Is this a feature request?

Re: same open folders in different tabs
I'm not sure I get it. Maybe you should try the Mini Tree.

Re: same open folders in different tabs
Yes, Mini Tree is an option that helps, but isn´t rather the same as i am trying to explain. But thanks for the hint as a workaround.
My idea is "include the statusquo of the tree view in the tabs" .... and maybe this is an idea that collides with an overall idea which i haven´t understand.

Re: same open folders in different tabs
Do you mean that you want each tab to retain its "own" tree so that the expanded level only matches that specific tab?
E.g. tab path: D:\Temp\test
Then the whole tree is collapsed but the only visible expanded part is for that path?

... Kind of. Imagine a tab like a "second instance of xyplorer" ... all panes, left treeview, right pane, whatever, stays the same for this one tab. If you change anything in this one tab it stays .. whatever you change in another tab.

Re: same open folders in different tabs
Well, this is not how it works in XY (or any other file manager AFAIK).

Re: same open folders in different tabs
Well, it would be nice if this feature would exist. It does makes sense somehow imho?
The Tree View automatically stands in relation to the right pane. Where is the logic/the advantage when the tree view corresponds with another tab with a different folder at the same time (which you don’t see in this moment)? Just more clutter without being usefull. Or is it and I’m just missing something?
Maybe it starts to get usefull when you have 2 panes vertically open on the right? I don’t use xyplorer this way. But even then only in this tab.

Re: same open folders in different tabs
I'm not sure I understand what you're asking at all.
That said, if what you want is to keep the last opened directory also at the left, tree view, when you change to a tab, you can use:
Configuration > Custom Event Actions > Switch tabs > Run script > #1040
