Loading configuration takes 5 seconds

Post by juswannalearn »

It takes about 5 seconds to load the configuration file. Is this normal? Everything else is pretty snappy.

I only bought and installed a few days ago, and have made only a few tweaks to the settings since then.

I don't mind about the delay per-se, but I'm wondering if it is indicative of some other issue / conflict.

Just to clarify my first post, I meant to load the configurations settings, rather than the separate option I see to 'load configuration file'

Oh, you've meant Menu - Tools - Configuration...

Does it happen with a fresh instance as well?

Type
fresh;
in the addressbar and hit {ENTER}

Thanks. With a fresh instance, it still takes 5 or so seconds.

In comparison, in both my normal and fresh instances, opening other dialogs such as 'manage keyboard shortcuts' and 'manage favourite folders' takes about half a second.

There seems to be no fix for this currently...

You could try the TwinBasic edition (viewtopic.php?p=229277#p229277)
to see if this can open it in ~1 second but I'd suggest to not use it with your current XY config data.

One way to do this:
Create a folder XYplorerTB e.g. directly on C:\
Extract the TB version of it into it
Create a subfolder Data and copy over the full content of your normal XY data folder into that subfolder

At least we would know if this will fix the problem...

Hi thanks for the suggestion and clear instructions.

Loading the configuration takes about 5 seconds with the twinbasic version also.

Thanks for your help.

Last shot: Does the behavior change if you add the XY TB version directory to your antivirus folder exclusion list?

The TB version will be faster than the VB version in the future. Patience.
