Stop branch view getting folder sizes

Is there any way to stop branch view from getting folder sizes after every operation? It makes things painfully slow when 10-15 seconds is added to each operation. I don't have a saved folder view for the folder. I have "Always show folder sizes" and "In network locations as well" turned off. I've also tried with Auto Refresh turned off for branch view and in general config.
