Well, using variables to refer to strings is pretty much programming 101. I don't think there needs to be an example. The help file is fat enough. :)

formatlist()
Format f also supports inversion by a prefixed "!".
The later examples show that inversion can also be applied to format F, but that is not stated in this statement or elsewhere.
