[Solved] Help with Pane 2 (tabsets) -- can't close ...
I hope I can explain this well in the correct terminology, but I've been having troubles with a pesky tabset that I can't get rid of so I'm sure it's related to something I must not be aware of.
I have a tabset that supposedly is active in Pane 2. But I can't open it because of that. When I moved the folder related to that tabset to my desktop and then try to delete it from the "Recent Tabsets Pane 2..." option, even untoggling/toggling save settings on exit, etc., it just re-creates the main folder itself, a bogus copy. So somewhere there must be a setting to turn off this active Pane 2 so that I can put my tabset folder back into the panes folder and actually use that tabset. But I don't know how to do that.
Can anyone tell me how to switch off that 2nd pane, as it were, to make it not active, if that is at all possible?
Thank you!

No clue if that's what you're looking for but:
- Switch to pane 1
- Menu - Panes - Dual Pane
- Switch to pane 1
- Menu - Panes - Dual Pane

You might want to check the shortcut you use to start XY, it might contain the path you can't get rid of.

Re: Help with Pane 2 (tabsets) -- can't close ...
I kept at it and found a solution to 1 issue, it's because I never used the dual pane feature, so you were right on the money, there.
So I just kept digging online despite the hopelessness and stumbled upon an answer within a couple of hours of posting. So I saw that the accidental key presses must have switched me into Pane 2, but since I had single pane as the default and Pane 2 was hidden, that's what stumped me.
Now it seems that one can't have a blank Pane 2, so I had to create a bogus tabset that I labelled just plain "z" and set Pane 2 to that. It's not ideal, I'd love to have blank Pane 2, but at least when I go to choose a tabset, "z" is right at the bottom and pretty much hidden as my list of tabsets is quite long, but I can live with that.
The funny things was when I accidentally ended up in Pane 2 and just didn't know what was going on (this happened about 3 times within the last 3-4 months). So good to know now that to get out of that, I just have to switch on dual pane, go from Pane 2 to Pane 1, then take off dual pane.
Thanks!

Re: Help with Pane 2 (tabsets) -- can't close ...
Thanks!
Turned out it was accidental key presses switching me somehow from Pane 1, the default, to Pane 2, which I couldn't see (as it seemed to be hidden), because I don't use dual pane.
So as I stated just a few moments ago in another reply, I just have to switch dual pane on, go from Pane 2 to Pane 1, then switch off dual pane.
I don't use dual pane, it bothers my brain as it's too much to look at <lol>, so I never realized that I was accidentally switching over to the hidden Pane 2. It was very perplexing to say the least. But, like everything, easy once you know what's going on! <g>
Re: [Solved] Help with Pane 2 (tabsets) -- can't close ...
There is a toolbar button to toggle between the two panes and it shows a number 1 or 2 depending on which one is active.
This would certainly be the easier way to switch back to pane 1.
There is even a standard shortcut to toggle the active pane with Ctrl+Alt+F10.

You may want to change this setting:
Configuration | Tabs and Panes | Dual Pane | Tab key == Tab through everything except inactive pane
and probz this too:
Configuration | Tabs and Panes | Dual Pane | Always keep 1st pane visible

Or maybe just remove the keyboard shortcut for "Toggle Active Pane" so that you can't accidentally switch them?

Wow, thanks! Really appreciate it, man!
That should stop my occasional fumbling fingers accidentally switching panes! LOL

Thanks, will check it out, that Ctrl+Alt+F10 and disable it, too!

Re: [Solved] Help with Pane 2 (tabsets) -- can't close ...
I _finally_ got around to having a few moments where I could sit down and figure this out and managed to take out the keyboard shortcuts. Tested out just fine. So no more finger slips and accidentally toggling the dual pane by accident ever again! Thanks. Sometimes hidden things are difficult to get to the root of, but this one finally got done as a final measure to avoid this. I really love XYplorer and use a lot of its features but haven't gone into the dual pane yet. I have many tabsets and switch panes all the time but as single panes.
Thanks so much! Cheers.

This was interesting, I share your thoughts on the dual pane
I always found it irritating,
I like to work with a single pane.
Selected the "always keep the first pane visable"

Yes, I had that selected way back when, too. But, surprisingly, just last week I again, even after all this time, accidentally ended up with a keystroke booboo that brought up the dual pane, which startled me as I thought I'd fixed it for good.
But the notification for this forum post response led me today to go back to keystrokes and found that when I went to Shift+F9 to pull up "Customize Keyboard Shortcuts" box and searched, there was a "Dual Pane" keystroke set to F10 which must have been what I accidentally pressed last week. I got rid of that just now, so that's one less mis-press I can avoid in future.
Then I chose the Panes category and went through what was there and saw that I didn't need any of the keystroke combinations there, either, and got rid of them all. So I think that's the end of accidental keystrokes doing anything here.
Thanks. This made me re-visit this keystroke because of last week's finger mishap.
