Auto-hide file extension in Name column if Ext column is displayed

Hi,

I'm looking in the help for “extension”, but I can't find (if it exists?) how to hide the extension in the “name” column.
This saves space when the “Ext” column is displayed.

If it doesn't exist, could it be added?
An option like “Don't display the file extension in the Name column if the Extension column is displayed”.

Alternative: Allow sorting by extension on the “Name” column header (using Alt+click on the header, for example)?

No auto hide, but manual,

Tools | Customize List | Hide Extensions

You would have better results using more narrow scope of search term, eg "Hide Ext" mentions above setting in first result.

In popup menu (over Name column), in list of columns, below "Name" add "Name (without extenstion)"
or add "Hide extension" at bottom of this menu list (Makes more sense than the Tools menu) IMHO

@Marc FYI the things you're asking aren't there 'cause Custom Columns exist, where user can display whatever wants.(from "only name without extension" to various info about items)
