Adding files to zip takes ages

I'm on my second trial day and still learning. I work a lot with zip archives and have noticed that when I try to add files to a zip archive it tages forever. I select the files, right click, select Zip and Add to xxxx.zip and then I can watch the files being added to the archive one by one, verrrry slowly. If I do the same thing to the same files in Windows Explorer it takes a couple of seconds. What am I doing wrong? Also, if I double click on a zip file, it still gets opened in Windows Explorer. How can I fix that?

XY's internal zipping uses Explorer Zip Folder technology, which is not the fastest (can't say why it's faster in Explorer itself). If you do a lot of zipping, you should get a dedicated application, such as WinRAR or 7zip.
