Renaming issue using 'Edit Item Names...'

I've done this many times before but now there seems to be an issue...
I select a number of files ==> context menu ==>'Rename Special'==>'Edit Item Names...' and I get the below error.

What's the problem? Never had this before.

I get this error for each file and it creates a folder instead!?
