Unicode Edit Box will come...

Post by admin »

Good news: Looks like I finally found a way to construct an edit control that fully supports UNICODE! :D It will take some days in the laboratory but I think it's worth it. I'm quite embarrassed by the current state of affairs when it comes to renaming non-latin named file items, so I'm very happy that this will find an end soon!

Code: Select all

v7.10.0010 - 2008-05-14 11:29
+ Font Preview: Now the Edit box containing the sample text supports
UNICODE. In other words: I finally managed to write a UNICODE
compliant Edit Control -- a personal triumph :)
Good job!
Alt + Num Pad input method doesn't seem to be supported yet

No? Works here. Probably a DBCS issue...

OK, it's the keyboard selection issue. It has to be a Latin-based keyboard for Alt + Num to work.

The cheese has bones! On my way of spreading the new edit box all over the app I have met fierce resistance from UserControls: loads of creepy side-effects... So, once again those freaky monsters crossed my plans, one time too much actually! Enough is enough -- something made SNAP in my mind, and I decided to remove all UserControls from the project!

When I'm done with this we all can enjoy a couple of glaring advantages, for example further extreme reduction in memory usage into unbelievable lows; and, of course, full-total-complete UNICODE support! The disadvantage: the conversion process will take any time from 2 to 6 weeks, hard to predict. I'll start it right after publication of 7.20.
