Delete To Different Folder
Delete To Different Folder
Computer working on a remote server filesystem. Can I make the deleted files go somewhere specific instead of disappearing forever? That way I could recover them if needed? Maybe in a created folder on the server so no one can delete a file without chance of recovery.
Re: Delete To Different Folder
Write a script that moves the selected items into a different place when they are on the remote system and executes a normal delete when not; bind it to the {del} key?

Re: Delete To Different Folder
You could write a script for xyplorer to do that? In the windows explorer it would be gone. But if I put XYPlorer on other computers, we could write a script that takes deleted files and moves them to a trash can on the server?
Re: Delete To Different Folder
You can't put into the trash can on a remote server yourself, that's up to the server how it handles deletes.
That's what scripts could do...Maybe in a created folder on the server

Re: Delete To Different Folder
Do you understand what I am trying to do? If I make a user use XYPlorer, and they right click and delete something from the server file system, the files would go to a holding tank destination on the server, is that doable with a script? I would be willing to pay.
Re: Delete To Different Folder
I never said that you can do it with the standard context menu entry
I said you could bind it to the delete key on the keyboard (or ofc use it on a button, the catalog, etc.).
So you would need to tell these users to always use that specific method (at least when working on that remote server)...
