Rapid access folder name same as some system folder will result in weird behavior
For example, if I have 2 folders
F:\test, which has 2 subfolders F:\test\sub1 and F:\test\sub1
E:\Downloads, which has 2 subfolders, E:\Downloads\download1, E:\Downloads\download2
I add both F:\test and E:\Downloads to rapid access.
Now if I click on F:\test, and goes into sub1, the tree expands under rapid access, "This PC" is still folded.
Now if I click on E:\Downloads, first of all in address bar, I see that the system default Downloads folder's icon: This is obviously wrong.
Then if I click on download1, the tree expands under "This PC" instead of rapid access.

Are you using the latest version?

How did you add E:\Downloads? It should be automatically renamed to "Downloads2" if E:\Downloads is not the real path of your special Downloads folder.

Re: Rapid access folder name same as some system folder will result in weird behavior
I tried drag and drop, as well as right click on "rapid access" and click "add current folder", it is the same.
I did use regeditor to remove Downloads from quick access in windows' default file explorer, but I suppose it shouldn't interfere with xyplorer. Also I changed "personal" in
Code: Select all
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\User Shell FoldersSpeaking of which, I suddenly realized that, the icon showed for E:\Downloads is the "Documents" icon, not the system "Downloads" icon.
OK I seem to figure it out, it is about
Code: Select all
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\User Shell FoldersIs it a feature or a bug?

Re: Rapid access folder name same as some system folder will result in weird behavior
This is a bit confusing. I cannot see or reproduce a bug here. Name collisions with shell special folders (Documents, Downloads, etc... and no matter how you rename them) are handled fine as far as I can see.

Re: Rapid access folder name same as some system folder will result in weird behavior
Yeah sorry I did not quite clearly state the problem.
You can go to
That is where windows handles user shell folders, i.e. the "Downloads" "Documents" etc.HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\User Shell Folders
Change any of the value (e.g. "personal" which defaults to "%USERPROFILE%\Documents"), into E:\Downloads.
Then you will see the problem.
The reason why I changed that is because I want to default Outlook attachments download to E:\Downloads.

Re: Rapid access folder name same as some system folder will result in weird behavior
I tried it, but could not fully reproduce the problem you describe. The behavior was as good as possible and nothing bad happened. In general, if you create name collisions in the file system in this way, you are responsible for the resulting problems. In other words: just don't do it.

Re: Rapid access folder name same as some system folder will result in weird behavior
I now can see something similar in the Mini Tree if "Configuration | General | Tree and List | Items in Tree and List > Rapid Access Folders" is unchecked. That's a bug and will be fixed.

Re: Rapid access folder name same as some system folder will result in weird behavior
I am having this problem even with the option checked. Anyway I will see if the fix works for me as well.
Do you mind telling me when the fix is out so I can test it? Thanks!

Re: Rapid access folder name same as some system folder will result in weird behavior
I am terribly sorry about the false report I made earlier. I downloaded the 0102 beta and it was working properly so I assumed it was fixed, but when I imported my configuration file, it was not working anymore. Then I tried to figure out what exactly went wrong, and I am able to narrow it down to these settings:
Code: Select all
ShowSpecFolderLinks=0
ShowSpecFolderDesktop=0
ShowSpecFolderDocuments=0
ShowSpecFolderDownloads=0
ShowSpecFolderOneDrive=1
ShowSpecFolderUser=1-

Re: Rapid access folder name same as some system folder will result in weird behavior
Come on, if you rewire the Documents folder to a path called "Downloads" you are looking for trouble and you will find trouble.
