7z in context menu

Post by Crius »

I'm trying to get 7z to work within the context menu as it does in Windows Explorer. I've searched the forums but didn't get anything conclusive so I'm hoping someone else could help me out.

Normally I should have the option to Extract here, Add to archive or when I select multiple compressed files (.7z zip or rar) I can extract them each to their own directory (Extract to *\).

Has anyone managed to get 7z to work in XY?

Thanks in advance.

PS: using v7.10

Yes, I use XY v.7.10 and 7-Zip v.4.57 here (WinXP Pro SP 2). Everything works without any problems.

I use 7zip all the time and it works without problems. I get all the context menus under XYplorer.

Do you get any items from any shell extension on your context menus ? Cause if you don't, maybe it's just that you have option "Default items only in shell context menu" (Configuration - Advanced), just disable that option to get all the menuitems from shell extensions (like archiver, antivirus, etc)

"Default items only in shell context menu" isn't selected and I do get things like anti-virus check, editplus, winamp and so forth.

I've checked and I have the latest version of 7zip (4.58), which is the x64 version. I'm also using Vista SP1.

XYplorer is a 32-bit application, so it won't pickup 64-bit shell extensions.

You may want to try installing the 32-bit 7z in addition to (not instead of) the x64 version so that XY can pick up items intended for the 32-bit shell.
