Dinosaur makeover - desperate to look hip

Post by admin »

I stripped the interface of almost everything interesting to please Gen Z, but now it dawns on me: Is it the gray??? Is making the tab bar and the status bar white all it takes to look cool again?

I use all white (or black) on the tab bar list, list panel, and the BC. I like the simple clean look. I'd use it on the status bar too, but I didn't know I could change it, at list not on the GUI Configuration > Colors. Maybe we can in the ini file?

Not yet, and TabBarBackColor is only a tweak.

Hmmm, just playing with "Configuration | Colors and Styles | Colors | Apply colors". Does not seem to work anymore??? :eh:

Ah, sorry, does not work with Configuration | Tabs and Panes | Tabs | Visual style = XYplorer Modern Style.

The nodes "Network" and "This PC" are the main culprits.

"What's a PC? Something like an iPhone? And what am I supposed to bother with an, erm, Network? I'm online since my day of birth!"

More seriously: Taking "Files" as the named competitor colors (or their restricted usage) might be one thing. The tree doesn't seem to be one, it's more a vertical list of shortcuts (Favs) with the "This PC" paradigm completely skipped.

And: less power, less icons.

Interesting.

Though they seem to still have "Network" (and what is "Home"?):

and what is "Home"?
Probably a tag (it's in the tags subcategory)

I meant the one at the top of the tree.

Oh, totally forgot about SC interfacecolors. You can do it, even on the fly:

Code: Select all

interfacecolors("FFFFFF|000000"); //set backcolor and textcolor
It's so hip now, you feel snowblind:

Shot from a video, nothing fancy.

In it's current version the RAT is quite similar to the "pinned" section, it just offers the additional tree representation.

So Home = Dashboard.

Or Home = Startpage (like in web browsers).

Seems so. But has a lot of redundancy to the left navigation pane. But some people do like to have options.

For a while now I do use the tree only to list my drives (besides RAT), so I do have some love for this section approach.

Forgot to slim down the window margins and remove the title bar. Also removed the tabs, just too crowded:
