Does anybody use the Glider?

Post by admin »

I was really excited about the Glider at first, but it turns out I never use it. It's a total flop for me. So I'm inclined to remove that feature. It just takes up space and bytes.

Can't say i use it that much, from time to time, mainly cause for me tree is more like a "roadmap/fast-traveler", and i'm not much used to do some file operations/drops there. But i definitely can't say Glider is useless, at the very least cause it has scriptable button and good amount of customizations.!

I use the scriptable button, but I wouldn't if you will add new Custom Event Actions:

Clicking on Folder Icons (Left, Middle and Right Click)

You can hide them under Tweaks if you think they are too advanced.

BTW i support what xy123 said: if there'd be CEAs for Clicking on Folder Icons (Left, Middle and Right Click) and Clicking on File Icons (Left, Middle and Right Click) - Glider would be obsolete for me and so much opportunities added!

hi! i use it all the time ! at first i didn't, but since i use the mini-tree and the path listings are small and clean, i found it super easy to use (even more so than my previous "Copy or Move to Other Pane" commands. admittedly it did take a little getting used to, but with all the setting adjustments you had added, it's smooth now !

XY is already small in size, no need to save bytes by removing this.

Internally it's large. > 300,000 lines. I want to clean up a bit.

I still think it's a cool feature. And I for sure would use it much more if it supports the lists.

I don't know about the user base which is not present here, removing features "all of a sudden" can be dangerous sometimes.

Dangerous? It won't be removed from older versions. :)

Like most of the other replies here, I used it when it was first introduced and not so much of late. Yes, it's a nice feature, but being old school, I naturally gravitate to the ol' drag and drop. It wouldn't bother me at all if it were to be decommissioned.

You know what I meant. But you also know all of your customers.

300k-lines is a statement, of course.

I still think the Glider a nice feature. I tend to forget it's there and that may be the case with many users. I should have been using it more.

I don't use it. The recent additions to the Toolbar are much more interesting and useful for me.

I also forget it's there, which is probably an indication of how much I (don't) use it 😆
