AddToRecentDocs

Post by admin »

Today's BETA has this:

Code: Select all

+ Tweak: Added the option to auto-add opened items to the Shell's
      list of recently used documents.
        [Settings]
        AddToRecentDocs = 1
I kept it a tweak only, because there's still no way to make
integrated use of that Shell list within XY. Options are to
incorporate it as a sort of *goto*-recently-opened-file list (in
form of a menu probably) OR a *open*(with default PFA or OS or
      POM???)-recently-opened-file list -- what's better?
I just repeat it here to get some feedback... :)

I can give some feedback already, AFAIC I don't use that Shell Recent thing, I don't really like it so much, and I'm pretty sure I've disabled it in fact.

Other than that, for those who use it, sounds like it could be a nice idea. I would think a menu to Open (using PFA) would be the way to go (since we're talking about documents have been opened), with something (hold Ctrl?) to Goto instead. (You can then use POM if you want to.)

I 2nd jacky - i would like to leave it a tweak only: when i think XY portable, i like my program leave no traces on the host and i doubt that a majority of users think of recently opened files list as just another place for their footprint. I carry Nir Sofer's RecentlyOpenedFiles alongside XY to kill them all at the end of a session.

OTH

I would then 2nd POM - right in the spirit of this unrivaled powerful feature.
Thanks again for that, Don!

Good point! Let's stay in stealth mode.
