Reconsider Space for CTBs

Post by GreetingsFromPoland »

hi! would you be open to reconsider adding the ability to have CTBs here (see below) ? even if it was a fixed number, e.g. 4 or so. like a mini (modern ;) )button area of sorts.

this is a very handy area and space that can be further used. right now i have my commands inside the hamburger and as some would say "it's just a click away", but it's more. it's a click, then a scroll down to locate the entry and then the final click.

i would like the ability to put commands there that i would right away (without a keyboard shortcut) with just a click where my mouse is already positioned. keyboarding has become more difficult than in previous years, so i rely on the quickness i can get with mouse.

for example,

Code: Select all

::Open Administrative Command Prompt Here;opencommandprompt , , , 1
would be instantly added if this feature is added.

:) It's an idea. I'll let it sink in.

as you see, there is quite a bit of empty space. i don't think the new button area would need to be unlimited as most people that would use this would limit their specific commands. i could use 4 to 6 commands immediately in a new space there. i use several "this pane to that pane" type commands or scripts and would reduce the amount of menu travels or hamburger expands.

I'm not intending to say anything against the wish, just reminding that hamburger menu can be edited, so any launch/command/script may be incorporated.

I don't understand the wish.
1. The place to add it looks strange for me as there is no big space here.
2. As eil already said, the Hamburger menu can be edited.

how can you not understand the wish ? of course i know you can edit the hamburger. my request is that a spacer/section be given (where pointed to in the screenshot) that allows a user to add buttons there - right of hamburger, left of folder icon. currently there are 4 arrows which i've never clicked on and a folder icon that doesn't serve a purpose (that i can see). if you don't want a button there, don't add it. if you do, you can customize it. almost every other aspect of the UI can be customized and very little can be done with the front-and-center bar in the middle of my screen.

for commands that i use quite often that deal w/actions between panes, why click to expand the hamburger each and every time when there is PLENTY of space to allow for custom buttons. my other screenshot shows how much empty/unused space is to the right of the path - plenty of space and would be the case for most users' resolutions nowadays.

update. here is an example of my DO setup. users can add all types of buttons, etc. in the red box area. this is really handy because the buttons are right there and eliminates the need to continually expand the hamburger menu (which is still one of the best features added in recent years).

That's how it looks for me.
Tell me where the big empty space is for your suggestion ?

I see 5 custom buttons there, because I don't use navigation buttons nor Hamburger menu (click + look for it + click = too much for me).

Although I wouldn't mind custom buttons on the right side of the Breadcrumb Bar.

GreetingsFromPoland simply means on big screen Breadcrumb bar often "looks empty", so one would like to be able to place buttons there. But that's kinda not a place for custom buttons, cause it's not a toolbar. Plus toolbar recently had a Massive enhance with multi-rows and other stuff, so that's the proper place for all and any custom buttons.(especially if one doesn't want to make "extra clicks" to call scripted menu)
