Re: Problem with running shortcuts
Yes! Version .0123 solves this problem and now shortcuts to .bms files run smoothly. But one problem still remains: Macrium Reflect 8 image backup files with extension .mrimg do not open/run in XY while they run perfectly when launched from Windows Explorer. Could this be also related to the same problem? Also this extension misbehaves the same way as .bms did.

Re: Problem with running shortcuts
Totally normal. Why should it behave differently from the others? There must be another factor.

Re: Problem with running shortcuts
It doesn't load when run. Just the XY's button on the taskbar flashes once as it did with extension .bms
When run from Explorer, it opens correctly.

Re: Problem with running shortcuts
Is this about LNK files again? Otherwise, .mrimg is simply not properly registered in the 32-bit branch of the registry. Sue the people who wrote the installer.

Re: Problem with running shortcuts
No, it's not a .lnk file, it's an actual image backup file. It seems properly associated with Macrium Reflect imaging program.
In Windows Explorer it opens OK, so the association is not damaged. But in XY these files don't open, even though a short time ago they did.

Re: Problem with running shortcuts
Read what I wrote: 32-bit branch of the registry. FE is 64-bit, it uses a different part of the registry.

Re: Problem with running shortcuts
PS: Open this file to see the registry with 32-bit eyes: %systemroot%\syswow64\regedit.exe

Re: Problem with running shortcuts
hi! i have the latest version of Macrium Reflect installed and can confirm the following :
1) in XY, double-clicking an MRIMG no longer launches their program (it used to in a previous XY)
2) double-clicking an MRIMG does work in FE
3) in XY, right-clicking an MRIMG file you'll see the bolded default entry "Explore Image" - selecting it does launch Macrium
4) in XY, right-clicking an MRIMG file, Show 64-bit Context Menu, select entry "Explore Image" - this also does launch Macrium
i can't say that i double-click those files often, more in the habit of right-click, Explore Image and that does work 100% of the time. there was a recent update of Macrium (just a few days ago) and that could have very well broken something. i did do a full Macrium re-install to see if it could "repair" anything, no such luck.
my guess is that Macrium broke something in their latest update (running this on Windows 10, latest version, all patches applied).

Re: Problem with running shortcuts
I can't reproduce this when running Reflect 8.1.7638 on Win10 along with XY 24.90.123.GreetingsFromPoland wrote: ↑14 Sep 2023 01:45 hi! i have the latest version of Macrium Reflect installed and can confirm the following :

When I double-click on a backup file (.mrimg) it opens Reflect as it always has with all previous versions of both Reflect and XY.
It would be helpful to others who try to reproduce an issue if you stated actual version numbers instead of "the latest version."

Re: Problem with running shortcuts
I compared the two and none of the differences are related to running shortcuts. Mysterious.
