So far, I was trying to fix XYPlorer today to be more useful.
I implemented Preview pane in my workflow, which wasn't working, so I tweaked some settings, updated XYPlorer to latest version, uninstalled SumatraPDF and reinstalled the option ticked, so it works for preview hover and also now preview pane works.
But I still have this issue with some PDF not showing up.
It's browsing on a fast Evo 860 4TB SSD, and my boot drive is a 1TB NVME.

1) Your XYplorer Version (e.g., v28.00.0801)
2) Your Windows Version (e.g., Win 11)
3) Your Screen Scaling Percentage (e.g., 125%).
We strongly recommend adding your Windows Version and Screen Scaling Percentage to the Location field in your Profile or to your Signature. That way, you only have to type them once, and we won't have to search for that vital information.
When attaching an Image, please use the Attachment tab at the bottom of your post and click "Add files".

Are those pdf always the same (that are only rendered as simple text)?

No it's not the pdf files, it's a consistent issue throught multiple folders of old pdf files. Some are big, some are small a few hundred kilobytes.
Also, some large PDF freeze xyplorer, a box "switch to... Or retry" pops up and I have to wait ages, or force close.
I think this maybe a separate issue with hover thumbs.
