Event sound for "item deleted" needs noise cleanup...
The event sound for "item deleted" needs noise cleanup or a higher quality replacement. There is too much background noise, which is especially noticeable when listening with headphones.
The event sound for "errors" could use a bit of noise cleanup too, but it is not as bad.

Re: Event sound for "item deleted" needs noise cleanup...
Frankly I don't hear the noise. Too much rock'n'roll and no headphones.
Thanks for helping! (Maybe you can also sync the loudness).

Re: Event sound for "item deleted" needs noise cleanup...
Younger people have much better ears then older ones..
But since I'm a sound engineer, I can use some more tools.
Also, it doesn't help that most of them are in very small SR and bit depth (as low as 11kHz or 4bit)..
That way, every system did its own real time conversion that is not always optimum, and most of the time adds more noise.
I converted them to 44.1kHz/16bit and tried to remove most of the noise.
Not all of it gone, but I think its a little better..
Tried to make them sound ~ the same level, too.
They are a little bigger now, so if you want to convert them to something smaller, or want anything else, tell me..

Great! It's okay when they are bigger.

Re: Event sound for "item deleted" needs noise cleanup...
i do have some sound effects editing experience from a few years back. unfortunately, i currently don't have access to adobe audition so i can't help. but thanks to noembryo for helping.
the "bottle pop" sound still has an obvious noise following the pop. if it can't be cleaned up manually or with a noise reduction filter, then you may need to find a better quality replacement.
the "blurp" and "boing" sounds have a small blip noise at the end. to fix it, you may need to make the waveform fade out to silence at the end tip so it doesn't end so abruptly. also another important thing is to have a 0.1 second of silence at the end so the waveform doesn't end so abruptly during playback on some systems, causing a RANDOM blip noise at the end.

Hmm, yes. What you're hearing is not noise. It's what's left from the natural reverberation of the room that the recording was made.ghost zero wrote: ↑23 Apr 2023 20:35 i do have some sound effects editing experience from a few years back. unfortunately, i currently don't have access to adobe audition so i can't help. but thanks to noembryo for helping.

And because the sample is really sort, it does sound like something artificial and wrong.
The problem with this is that if you cut it, the sample will loose all its character.
What I did is, I changed the EQ of the sample's tail to make it less intense but still present.
Now you'll hear it less with the tradeoff of being thinner.
This is strange, but I guess every sound card behaves differently..the "blurp" and "boing" sounds have a small blip noise at the end. to fix it, you may need to make the waveform fade out to silence at the end tip so it doesn't end so abruptly. also another important thing is to have a 0.1 second of silence at the end so the waveform doesn't end so abruptly during playback on some systems, causing a RANDOM blip noise at the end.
I don't get this in the two cards that I can test, but then again it's not a big deal to redo the sounds with a fade and a small blank at the end..
So, if Don likes them more than the previous..

Re: Event sound for "item deleted" needs noise cleanup...
Thanks for the updates! I will consult a test audience for feedback...
One question now:
Is boing_x.OK2.WAV quieter than the previous version? Seems so. Why?

Re: Event sound for "item deleted" needs noise cleanup...
Oups!! My bad..
I opened the original sample with the last editing settings (that if used to lower its volume) and re-lowered its volume.
Here is the fixed one, hopefully

Yes, better.
In the meantime, my test audience has spoken: the new sounds are better!

Re: Event sound for "item deleted" needs noise cleanup...
the "blurp" sound still has a small blip noise at the end. if it already has a FULL 0.1 second of silence at the end, then you might need to increase it to 0.2 second.
the "bottle pop" sound still has an obvious noise following the pop, which makes it sound really bad. if it is unfixable, then you need to find a better quality replacement. or try switching to something similar, like a "poof" sound from a disappearing act in a magic show. or a "fading whistle" sound, like fireworks flying into the distance.

Thanks, but the window has closed. My test audience was completely satisfied.
