Search of data files stopped workinng

Working under latest version 24.10. It was working fine until until yesterday. It may be that I made some conflicting setup.
I have restarted Xyplorer, with not change. Considering re-install the program to see if that helps.
Any other suggestions.

My data is largely Microsoft *.doc or *.docx files.
If I search for *.doc* I get about 10 arbitrary records

Works fine here, I hope the second * is only in your post.
*.doc* doesn't make sense.
Check what you have enabled under Applied filters:

Regarding *.doc*

In more real life: *john*.doc* will give me all documents with the name "john" in the title and have either
extension format .doc or .docx

Regarding applied filters.
To keep my tests simple, they are restricted to "address"

There is no Address filter, I guess you mean the Name & Location field.
