XY Freezes while searching and has to be hard-quitted

Symptom: I search for a file, specifying a partial name such as "*start*.png",
some file(s) are found, then the application hangs. I have to hard-quit the application.

There is a random nature to this problem because after restarting, the exact search might not happen.

I can reproduce the problem relatively easily but with certain randomness, as mentioned.

I had the problem some months ago (or +1/2 year?), then it did not happen again. With the latest update, the problem happens again (I don't update regularly. Hence I don't know if the problem is specific to a given XY version).

When the problem happens, the task manager shows 0% CPU for XYplorer. Hence this is not an infinite loop. XYplorer must be waiting for something that does not happen.

Is there a way to diagnose this kind of problem?

I heavily use the search function, and this problem has become a workflow killer
