Thumbs and preview for Fuji raf files

Howdy howdy...new user here.XY is terrific...except for one thing.
Thumnail creation and previewing Fuji .raf files is super slow.30 .raf files (compressed raw) took about 2 minutes to generate thumnails.(xnview does this in about 5 seconds or faster)
Previewing a single file takes about 6 seconds.Not a lot, but other programs do this instantly.

XY is powerful enough to use as a digital asset manager but this kinda ruins it for that.Everything else about XY is great.

Is there a way to speed these two processes up?

I had to install fujis raw converter (silkypix) just to get thumbnails to even show up.I blame fujis compressed raw format even though no other program I use has this issue.

I am on win 11.I tried to zip one up and attach but was too large.Here is a link to Amazon photos.

Downloaded your provided image. Duplicated it 29 times.

Installed v8.1.11.0 of "RAW FILE CONVERTER EX 3.0 powered by SILKYPIX"

Checked these settings (fresh instance):
Configuration | Preview | Thumbnails | [x] Show cached thumbnails only
Configuration | Preview | Thumbnails | [x] Create all thumbnails at once

Quality is set to "High Speed"

Menu - View - Views - Thumbnails #3 (300x200)
Menu - View - Caches - Refresh Thumbnails

It took 85 seconds to create all 30 thumbnails (AMD Ryzen 3700x)
Leaving that folder and coming back to it to show them again: Instant (because of the [x] Show cached thumbnails only setting).

So yeah, it takes time (you could create them in a second instance to not block your main one btw.) but after this process revisiting them is instant. Don't think that this can be speed up a lot more. XY is relying on installed thumbnails handler to create them...

Cache thumnails is on.Show only cached thumbnails dosnt make much sense to me.
Generation was on fast.
A program like XnView just looks at the embedded jpg and creates a thumb from that so it takes about as long as a regular jpg thumb to generate...very fast...previews are just as fast.

XY acts like it is loading the entire raw data and the getting a thumb and preview from that.Long thumbnail generation I could maybe deal with but the 6 second delay per preview is a no go.
XY has spoiled me with how fast and well it does everything that it was a suprise how poorly it does this.

With the way it is now you cant navigate to another folder with raf files with view set to thumbnails...it will just grind to a halt.If you click anything else XY pops up a warning about something being busy.You just have to wait it out.
I imagine a folder with hundreds of images would be a nightmare.

This is my first real camera.Fuji X-T3.
The more I use XY,the more I appreciate it.The search tools and sync select are terrific.

It might work better soon for the thumbnails and the Hover Box (i.e. for smaller previews). Wait for the next beta tomorrow...

The full size preview though (F11, Ctrl+F11, Preview Tab, Mouse Down Blow Up) will stay as slow as it is (it's a large picture!).

XY is really nice.Thank you.
I can work around slow previews by just not using preview for .raf files.
I will put all raf files in their own subfolder away from the jpgs and only use thumnails and previews for jpg.
This will also keep Editing software from seeing the jpgs at all.(and stop them creating unnecessary previews and thumbs etc...)Only allow Editing software access to the raf folder.
Live branch will let me look at them all together if needed.

highend and klownboy gave me a solution to buttonize a search for all raf related files so nothing gets orphaned.

Try the latest beta (viewtopic.php?p=204562#p204562) for some serious speed improvement in RAF thumbnails and RAF preview. And not only RAF but all RAW formats.
