Live Filter won't find "Q."

Post by Malarki »

I wanted to find all filenames that contained "John Q. Public". So in the LFB I entered "Q." (no quotes). But this finds nothing.

With a trailing space "Q. " it works. The period alone "." also works.

I did read everything about LF in the Help, and made a first pass through the Visual Filter syntax but began aging so rapidly that I had to stop. So I'm not sure that this is actually a bug.

This should be easy for anyone to confirm and of course it happens with any letter, not just Q.

In XYplorer a final dot in a search or filter pattern stands for "match items without extension". To work around this you have to add another character to the pattern, in your case a space: Q. .
