New icon in taskbar
New icon in taskbar
The ::appicon; dialog changes the icon that is displayed on the application but not the one displayed on the taskbar (which is also much larger and pinned so it's there all the time). Please make that dialog change both icons.
Thank you.
Thank you.
Re: New icon in taskbar
also using <xy> as icon in custom button will use the new one.
you can change desktop icon manually by right click.

Re: New icon in taskbar
In my case I had to go to %appdata%/Microsoft/Internet Explorer/Quick Launch/User Pinned/Taskbar and change it manually.
Re: New icon in taskbar
Thanks for the hint, that solved the taskbar icon problem for me as well.

Re: New icon in taskbar
I'm using v23.70.0200 (portable) and the pinned taskbar icon will not display the new icon, even after manually changing the icon via properties.
If I unpin from taskbar the new icon is displayed, but as soon as I pin the app the old icon appears.
Any thoughts?
Re: New icon in taskbar
No unpin, pin necessary with this approach. Did you follow the instructions you quoted above?

Re: New icon in taskbar
Of course, which is why I explicitly quoted the instructions and mentioned that I tried setting the icon manually via properties.

Did YOU read my post?

That approach solves nothing in my situation, which is a hint this bug goes beyond operator error.
The importance of mentioning what occurs in both pinned and unpinned mode is to provide the devs with as much context and information as possible.
To better illustrate the issue:

Re: New icon in taskbar
Are you logged in with an admin acct? That's where I couldn't get the manual edit to work either.

Re: New icon in taskbar
Yes, I am logged into Windows 10 (patches up to date) with Admin access.
I have also tried running XYplorer.exe with "Run this program as an administrator" enabled and disabled, it makes no difference.
For what it's worth, the systray icon displays the new icon correctly - just not the taskbar icon while pinned.
Re: New icon in taskbar
As I said, I couldn't get the pinned taskbar icon fixed for my admin acct, it only worked for the standard user one.

Re: New icon in taskbar
Update: as of this post, the issue seemingly appears to have resolved itself. The new taskbar icon is now visible while pinned.
That said, I think the devs may still be interested in looking into the cause of this and a possible solution.
BTW, it might be relevant to mention that I updated from v23.60.0100 (portable) to v23.70.0200 (portable) and I did not encounter this bug with a fresh install.
Edit: I've tried alternating between the different taskbar icons by using the previously mentioned manual method and it does not behave as intended.
Since setting the new taskbar icon, it's now "stuck" just as the old icon was before it randomly decided to change itself.
This has to be an internal bug rather than simple operator error.
