:info: Please include the following information:
1) Your XYplorer Version (e.g., v28.00.0801)
2) Your Windows Version (e.g., Win 11)
3) Your Screen Scaling Percentage (e.g., 125%).

:info: We strongly recommend adding your Windows Version and Screen Scaling Percentage to the Location field in your Profile or to your Signature. That way, you only have to type them once, and we won't have to search for that vital information.

Possible Preview Bug

Post by eurytos »

This is on XP Pro

Ok, not sure if this is a bug, intended, or something that is outside of xyplorer but here goes. So, this may turn out to be a feature request...

If I select the preview tab and then click on a any item that does not have a preview format (or so it seems) I do not hear the windows 'CLICK' item selected sound. But, if I select an item with a preview format I now hear the windows 'CLICK' and it continues for all subsequent selected items until I click on an item without a preview.

NOTE: items that I have associated to notepad seem to not follow this pattern even though they have a preview. If I go from an item without a preview format and then next select a .txt file I hear no 'CLICK' but if I first select a .doc, .csv, .pdf, .html file and then select a text file I get the 'CLICK'.

The notepad behavior could be limited to me because I have replaced all references to the original notepad application on my system with notepad++

If I select the properties, version, etc tab I don't get any 'CLICK' no matter what I select. This is the behavior I would like to have. I do not like the 'CLICK' noise. The noise does not occur if I am in any of the other tabs (properties, version, raw file, etc)

Also, if I am on the preview tab and click (doc, csv, xls) the windows Open, Save, Cancel dialog box pops up. But only for those extensions (so far) txt, pdf, and html preview the item and do not present the dialog box. So, if I am in the preview tab when I double click to open a doc, csv, xls file I also have to go through the dialog box. But, if I switch to other tab like properties I can double click to open the items as expected.

now to follow that up with a question. Can i associate the preview with a format?
example: I have myfile.txt if I click on it with preview selected the text displays in the box. Now let's say I copy myfile.txt to myfile.sql and click on it I get 'not a previewed format'. Is there a location (I am sure there is but I missed it) where I can define to have a .sql extension preview in the same way a .txt file is previewed? Or whatever manner I choose?

Thanks,
Steve

The CLICK is from IE, which is used to preview a number of file types, like Office files, HTML files, TXT files.
Tip: ASCII files like TXT, CSV etc can be previewed through the Raw View tab as well, and without CLICK.

Depends on the format. Currently you can use two INI tweaks to add extensions to the image preview and the media (sound, video) preview:
; Tweak: user custom extensions, format eg: '.rm.ra.ext.'
ImagePreviewCustomExtensions=
MediaPreviewCustomExtensions=
