Hidden Main Menu gets focused on Alt

Post by Evolve »

It seems like the Main Menu still gets focused somehow on pressing Alt even when it's hidden.

Yeah I was wrong and about to delete the post, but you answerd too quickly :)
I have already found out what gets focused

PS correction:
It's not that you answered too quickly, it's me posted too quickly w/o a decent research... My bad.

Though maybe my confusion should be addressed. If I was confused, someone else may be confused as well. Should that menu show up immediately on pressing Alt rather than Alt and then Arrow Down? It's weird anyway when something invisible gets focused. With the Main Menu you at least can see the blue highlighting on File.

I got it wrong with which menu exactly got focused on Alt (it was invisible window menu instead). But It doesn't make a difference to be problematic IMHO. I think XY should show the menu immediately on Alt instead of just focusing on it and waiting for an arrow key with no indication for the user. Alternatively XY could show those indications but it doesn't make much sense 'cause it's the only menu anyway.

Or just leave it as it is. :) There is no problem IMO.

Found a tweak :)
HideMainMenuToggleByAlt=0
Which is named misleadingly, BTW, should have been just MainMenuToggleByAlt
(in parallel to #1061 Miscellaneous | General Functions | Toggle Main Menu)
Or even better:
; Tweak: 0 = No Toggle, 1 = Main Menu, 2 = Window Menu
MenuToggleByAlt=2

It's = 0 by default. Was it = 1 for you?

No, it was 0, I'm just expressing my thoughts on how this tweak could be reused for the Window Menu and also have its name fixed as a bonus :)

Well, I cannot change the name anymore now. It would break somebody's neck.
