Preview Pane PDF display oddity

Post by davidzvi »

When I preview any file other than a PDF it displays fine (only limited by my system's file handler). When I preview a PDF it seems to shift left (under the file /directory listing) and has blank space to the right.

Laptop
1920 x 1200 - I saw comment about resolution mismatch with multiple displays. Happens on single or multi (attached) displays.
i7 - 11th gen
16gb ram
Win 11 Home 64 bit

I do have another laptop (work) running Win 10 Pro that I do not notice this.

Suggestions?

When I preview any file type other than pdf I get:
Preview other file.png
When I preview a pdf I get:
Preview PDF.png

What are you using for PDF viewing? Adobe?

I've tried it with the current free version of Foxit PDF (viewer 11.2). And an older version of Adobe Acrobat X (version 10.1.16).

I used Windows "Default Apps" to switch between the two.

Current Windows info:

Edition Windows 11 Home
Version 22H2
Installed ‎6/‎3/‎2022
OS build 22621.1
Windows Feature Experience Pack 1000.22632.1000.0

Thanks. Does it fix the position if you resize the preview window?

Nope.

Resizing preview, application, or resizing preview after resizing application.

What if you untick both:
Configuration | Other | Shell Integration | 64-bit Windows | Use 64-bit preview handlers for preview
Configuration | Other | Shell Integration | 64-bit Windows | Fall back to preview handlers of the other bitness

Was un-checked - no difference turning it on.

Actually I should say this resulted in "cannot preview" when unchecked.

I thought so. The issue is definitely related to the 64-bit preview. But I already tried to solve it some time ago without success. I will try again when my new Win11 system is up.

One more question: When you do the Floating Preview (F11), do you see the same issue?
