Oh, right. Forgot about those!

Yeah, no it's not a good idea. And I was going to say I agree with jc at first, but in fact I don't think graying the menu is good either : since UDC are still shown and usable (after we clicked yes to the popup) then why should it be any different for this menu ?
Since scripts can be executed even with script disabled, let the user enable stepping and use the ::try from here and not UDC, why disable only some of it but not all of it ??

That's okay since you can use them by OKing the prompt.
Yes, okay but now it gets really confusing what you got there : scripting is disabled but icon still show up and script can be executed, but that's not the case for "Extended Scripting" ?

This time I'm with jc on this one :

I agree with that. There's no point for someone to have half the scripting feature enabbled, plus it's not like "::copyto D:\Folder" meant anything when scripting is disabled anyways.

Do we really need this option ? I say no.

jacky wrote:Edit: Oh and I think option "Enable Extended Script" should be on Config as well, under "Enable scripting"
Actually today I thought it should be only in config! It's not a thing you are likely to switch on and off all the time. It's a typical one-time setting.
Yes, EES should likely be only in config...and why exactly is that option really needed? Under what conditions would a user want to have "half"-scripting or whatever it would be?
Good question. I have another one: why "Enable Script"? I think this is a relict from the older script syntax (::command::command). The intention was always to prevent excecuting scripts from the address bar (etc) inadvertedly. But exactly this is now covered by "Enable Quick Scripting". So:
- "Enable Script" can go
- "Enable Quick Scripting" should (maybe! - actually I tend to drop it as well!) stay, but move to config

But I still want to do something for users that don't bother about scripting, and BTW, about UDC. So I think about adding two options:
- Hide User menu
- Hide Scripting menu
(They cannot be hidden from CKS by the way, because then the jumping to commands with already assigned shortcuts would not work anymore.)

About those #1234 buttons in CKS and UDC, there could be another option...
- Scripting support in CKS and UDC
...but isn't that overkill??? maybe it's enough to hide them if the user hides the Scripting menu!

Yet another question: "Step Through Scripts" sounds to much like an aciton to me, but it is just a state toggle. What about "Script Stepping" instead??

Naaaaa...I think the existing "Step Through Scripts" is just fine...yes, it may sound somewhat like an action but remember, there is this thing called documentation! And to me, "script stepping" sounds just a bit weird/odd...
Still spending WAY TOO much time here! But it's such a pleasure helping XY be a treasure!

I never claimed to be an English major in my education, but I've been using it for decades since I started talking! You could get some other input from our friends in the UK who started the language, I guess...

But it is not English you learned it is American! Not the same at all. I hate the way the spelling dictionaries and selections from MS and other USA sites refer to English. My daughter did her degree in English at Warick University and now an editor bemoans the influx and demise of the purity of the English language with 'American' invented spelling and words.

Don't take my remarks personally it is just a fun come-back. When I worked as a programmer in Canada I was constantly reminded of my English heritage - whats that silly date format you guys use - makes no sense at all but then it's American so that's ok.javascript:emoticon('')
