When I access the samba shares on my ubuntu 20.04 LTS server with XYplorer, the server creates log files with names like this:
log.2003_df_272d_9b00_810b_3c34_b13a_800c
log.2003_df_272d_9b00_30b7_2646_c9ca_36c9
The size of these files is 0.
The samba config has the default "log.%m" directive for the log file names, where %m is the host name of the connecting machine.
If I use the regular Windows explorer the log files do show the correct host name of my windows pc.
The problem is that the XYplorer log file names do change with every session, thus making housekeeping with logrotate a problem.
Is there an option to make XYplorer transfer the correct windows host name to the samba server?
Strange host name in samba logs
Re: Strange host name in samba logs
I don't have such log entries when accessing a home share via XYplorer on my debian testing instance...
Samba version 4.13.13-Debian
Samba version 4.13.13-Debian
Code: Select all
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 0 Apr 14 11:30 log.{hostname of my desktop pc}
