Double clicking address bar doesn't completely select active directory in certain conditions

If the ability to set address bar word boundary recognition to "only recognize \ and : as boundaries", consequently restoring the functionality I'm looking for, then this would be a great addition IMO.

Right, but unfortunately as you mentioned this selects the entire folder path and not JUST the current active directory that's in focus, which is what I was requesting be reinstituted.

BTW, I forgot to mention one more reason why it is the way it is now: the address bar in XY contains not only paths but also scripts, and here you clearly need word boundaries, not component boundaries.

Rethought it and decided to make it more user-friendly:

    + Address Bar: Added toggle "Selection by Path Components" to the icon's right-click 
      menu. Tick it to recognize only path component separators (\/?|) as word boundaries 
      when double-clicking the Address Bar contents, when moving the cursor by 
      Ctrl+Arrows, or when deleting words by Ctrl+Backspace.
      The new factory default is ON (since File Explorer does it, too).

Thanks again for implementing this. Now XYplorer seems to allow me to select Address Bar contents in the manner I was previously able to.

Although, I was experimenting with toggling the setting on and off but I was unable to notice any change in behavior regardless of the setting being enabled or not.
If the setting is disabled, shouldn't the Address Bar behave in the post-v22.40.0001 manner that suited you?
I was under the impression that implementing the "Selection by Path Components" option would allow both pre and post-v22.40.0001 behavior when double clicking within the Address Bar and selecting contents. Or am I mistaken?

I just wanted to bring this to your attention in case it's a bug and if not, I'd like to request a brief demo/explanation for how the Address Bar should behave when this setting is enabled and disabled.

I tested a few more directory naming conventions and from what I can tell you are correct, I now see that there is different behavior for some directory names depending on whether or not the setting is enabled or disabled.

Although, one naming convention example I thought previously behaved differently (before v22.80.0010, but post-v22.40.0001) on Address Bar double click is: Test_Directory_Here-Word_Words-1234.

I only mention this because directories named as such were not being selected in full before the latest update (if I'm not mistaken), but now this directory naming convention seems to be highlighted in full on Address Bar double click regardless of whether "Selection by Path Components" is enabled or not.
I'm certainly not complaining since this was the behavior I was requesting be re-implemented, but I also thought it was worth bringing to your attention if in fact the expected behavior should be different, with only partial directory names becoming selected on double click for similar folder names if the setting is disabled.

If I am wrong in remembering how the previous versions behaved then disregard, but I am almost certain directories named "Test_Directory_Here-Word_Words-1234" were previously only being partially selected on Address Bar double click, which was what prompted my initial creation of this thread.
Let me know if this is not a clear explanation or if I've recalled past behavior inaccurately.

You are right, I silently reduced the set of word breakers, and only you noted it. But now as you mentioned it I compared the word breaking to some other apps and decided to go back to the old larger set of word breakers. Thanks for the hint!

In the meantime I downloaded and installed XYplorer - that's why I didn't test - and it turns out I even misunderstood the question itself!
