:info: Please include the following information:
1) Your XYplorer Version (e.g., v28.00.0801)
2) Your Windows Version (e.g., Win 11)
3) Your Screen Scaling Percentage (e.g., 125%).

:info: We strongly recommend adding your Windows Version and Screen Scaling Percentage to the Location field in your Profile or to your Signature. That way, you only have to type them once, and we won't have to search for that vital information.

Very slow compared to past performance

Post by TedL1972 »

I am running the latest version of XYPlorer (22.10) and most actions have slowed down. I don't think this problem started with 22.10 as I experienced it also in previous versions, it just got worse.

The remedies I arleady tried: a) I included XYPlorer in the Virus & Threats protection setting under "Exclusions". This is one of the FAQ fixes and it did help a bit. b) I verified that the Safety Belts, Network settings were as recommended.

The main slow is in opening and closing programs and copying and moving files from one pane or tab to the other. The main programs I am using are Microsoft Word 2016, PDF Acrobat and the standard Microsoft ZIP program. The slow is mainly related to files that are in network locations.

Right now Windows Explorer is at least 2 or 3 times faster as a comparison.

Any help to solve this will be appreciated.

Sounds like one of those weird Windows moments. Just try a reboot.

If that doesn't help it might be a setting in XY. Check if a fresh instance is also slow.

Thank you!

The first reboot didn't change much. I then uninstalled some recent programs. I also unchecked and then checked back again the "Assume that servers are available" and after another reboot it went basically back to normal.

I guess an run after reboot would qualify as fresh instance?

No !
A fresh instance uses default settings
a reboot uses your own settings which may contain problems.
