update command

I had been using ":update 149" on the address line for a long while.
But, although it downloads the newer version, and closes and reopens, it sticks to the previously installed version. I can give the command multiple times, and each time download "tries" to install and keeps the old version (but in admin mode).

But I recently "discovered" that I can click on help -> online support ->ctrl-check for updates, and it works flawlessly every time.

Is there any way to use the update command this way? Way fewer keystrokes.

Let me test a little further and I'll come back here with actual data.

For me, they behave differently. As I mentioned, the update (149) in my case, shows that is progressing through the steps (i.e.: downloads the current beta version, closes, asks permission to install the new version, and launches it), but it re-opens with the same current (old) version but in Admin mode.
In contrast, "ctrl-check for updates", although it requires many more clicks (not a problem!) works as expected. At the end of the process, I have the new version, in user mode.
Not a big deal, just trying to clarify
