Unable to close folders due to close "X" being hidden...

Post by john3774 »

I'm not sure I'm using the proper term for this window, but I think it's called the tabbed browsing window. In any case, when I have a number of tabs open in that window, sometimes the topmost tab is on the far right, and the "x" that would let me close that tab is hidden. I can then close another tab, the tabs might reposition, and the "x" on the far right tab might be available. Or, it might not. It seems to depend on the number of tabs.
I've used XY Plorer for a long time and only have run into this in the last year or so. Yes, I likely should not let things get to where there are 30 tabs open, but it happens. This is only a problem when I want to clean up all the tabs, and I have to skip around to close them.
Thanks for any feedback.

John

Not sure if it will help, but there is a setting you might try changing... Configuration > Tabs and Panes > Tabs. Near the bottom is "Show X close ...."

I plan to add an (optional) general X-close button to the tab bar that would always close the current tab. It would be located where the "New Tab" and "Tab List" buttons are now. I think that would solve your problem.

Hi -
The method recommended by kunkel321 helped a lot. If I put the x on all the tabs, I get the desired effect: after closing the rightmost tab, the next one just slides into the same spot. The only disadvantage is that every tab has about 3 fewer letters on it. The long term solution from admin would be the nicest.
Thanks for the help.
Regards, John

Note that there are other options as well:

- press Ctrl+W which by default closes the current tab
- press Ctrl+F4 which also by default closes the current tab
- right-click the tab header and select Close from the menu
