Hi all...
The fact is, I usually do a lot of housekeeping on a large MP3 collection, and that includes ID3 tagging (both v1 and v2). Although I already use a specific piece of software for all-type media tag handling (a freeware jewel called The GodFather), I would find VERY useful that XY feature of editing ID3s on the fly when previewing MP3 files, just if it could be done on both versions of ID3 and not only v1, which is somewhat limited, mainly when it comes to the length of the strings that can be entered on every field. I always tend to use TGF for all tagging/renaming tasks that involve a whole bunch of MP3 files, but about the possibility of quick, full editing of both the ID3v1 and ID3v2 tags for a MP3 file or two to save some time (TGF's workflow is powerful but somewhat slow), I would find it quite handy. Maybe it could be done like the latest version of Winamp permits - editing common tag fields at once for both ID3 v1 and v2.
As far as it must be, it's just a little wish and it's up to you. No further MP3 handling is required for XYplorer IMHO, but if it falls outside the "general purpose" and it's not worth the implementation effort to serve a need that only a few people like me would use, I will understand it. Thank you!
ID3v2 handling for MP3 files on Preview?

RMR, since you're new here, you'd not have likely seen this prior but fairly recent thread that dealt with this same basic topic:
http://www.xyplorer.com/xyfc/viewtopic.php?t=2001
Which concluded that V2 tags are a bit too complex to deal with easily...so XY is stuck with V1, for now.
And I was able to find it easier as I'd posted to it, but a search for "ID3 tags" did find it, so next time, please do a quick search and see if you find any prior threads that may relate...now we're not like some forums who jump all over ya (especially newbies) for not spending hours searching, but a quick check may avoid some redundant threads and typing, ok? Thanks!

Still spending WAY TOO much time here! But it's such a pleasure helping XY be a treasure!

Reading threads to their very end is an excellent idea when searching for something...
I should claim that I'm only newbie to this particular forum, but sometimes the human factor appears. The funny thing is that I did make a search for topics related to MP3 and tags and the like before posting mine. The funnier thing is that I remember to have come across the topic you are linking to. And the funniest of all, is that I stopped reading it too early because at first glance it didn't seem to meet what I was looking for. So, shame on me.
Well, chattery and excuses apart... As I was thinking, there was a reason for only supporting v1 tags in XY, but I just wanted to ask about it, just in case. As TGF is still useful for what I want to do (as is XYplorer, of course!), full stop here. Thanks anyway, hallgren!

Nothing to worry about!
Been there/done that...not reading threads fully so missed the answer...anyway, I just wanted to point out that here we tend to be fairly nice about posters who didn't find the old threads, as contrasted with some forums where one may get yelled at, or worse for not doing hours of research...now if one posts a new thread that was covered within the last week or so, then we may wonder a bit!
Just be aware that some threads here have taken major diversions part way through and so, what may appear to be one topic may meld into another, which can make locating old threads about desired topic quite hard to find at times...and having as many posts as some of us do doesn't help when we know that we posted to a subject, but where was it?
