1997-2008
I made an expedition into old dusty code mines, and to my own surprise, the Tracker/TrackerV3/XYplorer roots got back to 25-June-1997 (Tracker v1.0)! Makes it 10.5 years of development. Uff.

Yes, but I should add: the first 7 years were by no means as intense as the last 3.5 years!Tamil wrote:

I'd also suspect that the last 2 yrs or so have been the most intense!
I'm surprised that so much gets done on XY...
Anyway, if it's anything like the programs that I used to code, the more features one added, the harder it became to maintain...

Still spending WAY TOO much time here! But it's such a pleasure helping XY be a treasure!
(XP on laptop with touchpad and thus NO mouse!) Using latest beta vers when possible.

Considering that i thought i got hold of the best file manager i could then think of - when i stumbled upon Tracker about v 1.5x (i think i came across xbeat googling for John Zorn records) yet redhot vexed by the installation procedure / license policy of a leading product i just bought before (my first anxious online deal).
What an evolution to XYP 6.7x!
Donald Lessau, the musician, the graphics designer, the coder with an attitude and a good taste (the two most endangered of values) - what a wealth of well used gifts to our pleasurable benefit - discovered "Don`s law" and with the potential of XYplorer emerged to everyone here: much to expect!
But even when development of this product (in the best sense of the word) would have to end in the state it is in - i'm sure i would stick with it because i feel it the most balanced in every respect.
XYplorer advanced to one of my favorite gifts for all kinds of somehow (or will be) puter literate people for all kinds of occasions. I recently gave a lifetime license even as a baptism gift (alongside something else - to be correct) - the parents were somewhat baffled at first, a few days later they called me, totally enthusiastic.
Thank you, Don, and congratulations.

I thought the fact that Don is multi-talented was a very well kept secret until you spilt the beans.Linkaday wrote:Considering that i thought i got hold of the best file manager i could then think of - when i stumbled upon Tracker about v 1.5x (i think i came across xbeat googling for John Zorn records) yet redhot vexed by the installation procedure / license policy of a leading product i just bought before (my first anxious online deal).

I had to change it because of all the phon(e)y support requests, haha.j_c_hallgren wrote:Secret?serendipity wrote:I thought the fact that Don is multi-talented was a very well kept secret until you spilt the beans.. Don must be so disappointed.
A fair amount of that info is easily found via a quick Google on the name...that was how I was able to (quite a while ago now) locate the info needed so I could actually call Don and become (apparently) the first XY user to do so! He was quite surprised! Especially since I was from USA...but alas, the last time I tried it, the number had changed and I was unable to do so...

Oh, there's a fine line between being flattered and being disappointed. It's only about 10 miles wide.serendipity wrote:I thought the fact that Don is multi-talented was a very well kept secret until you spilt the beans.Linkaday wrote:Considering that i thought i got hold of the best file manager i could then think of - when i stumbled upon Tracker about v 1.5x (i think i came across xbeat googling for John Zorn records) yet redhot vexed by the installation procedure / license policy of a leading product i just bought before (my first anxious online deal).

Jo Nendel. Don must be so disappointed.
I don't make a secret out of it: I would play electric guitar and make drawings all day long for the rest of my life if I would not be part of the only species in nature that needs money to survive.

Thanks for your hymnic words!
Yeah, people, you heard it: it's a LIFETIME license! What are you waiting for? Life has already started! Don't waste the rest of your days XY-less!
PS: or should I advertise "Lifetime and beyond (incl. unlimited free karmic cycles!)"?
