I had a need to try out the fairly new "Search All Tabs" which this thread dealt with...and in process of doing so, noticed this oddity: When you use the standard Browse "..." option, the pop-up gives you the choice of "ok", "cancel" or "new folder"...it's that last option that, in this usage, makes no sense to me...as why would you be searching a folder that doesn't yet exist...but I'm guessing it's just a built-in feature of this canned dialog maybe?
Still spending WAY TOO much time here! But it's such a pleasure helping XY be a treasure!
(XP on laptop with touchpad and thus NO mouse!) Using latest beta vers when possible.

Ah, good find. I can suppress this. Thanks.j_c_hallgren wrote:I had a need to try out the fairly new "Search All Tabs" which this thread dealt with...and in process of doing so, noticed this oddity: When you use the standard Browse "..." option, the pop-up gives you the choice of "ok", "cancel" or "new folder"...it's that last option that, in this usage, makes no sense to me...as why would you be searching a folder that doesn't yet exist...but I'm guessing it's just a built-in feature of this canned dialog maybe?
UPDATE: just checked -- I don't see any "new folder" option here...

And as you can see from this screenshot, I'm on current 6.70.02.

Update:Is this similar to the other issue that seems to be only me on W2K?

Hmm. Do you have any browse for folder dialog in XY without the new folder button?j_c_hallgren wrote:I just did...new folder button is still there...admin wrote:This is against theory!![]()
I changed something (not in change log), check next version...I presume you meant 6.70.03 as next vers?

Well, let's see...I've also got "new folder" in 'Browse for Exclude' (another place it doesn't make sense)...and in 'Browse for Network Folder'...
Where else should I check? I don't recall other places that may invoke this dialog..

But the UDC usages are for output so those make sense, whereas the three places I found it are for input (searching, etc.) so making a new folder is illogical, ok?serendipity wrote:i too dont have make new folder in the browse of find. but other places like UDC: copy to, move to and backup to have it.

Oh OK, i should have read the post completely, since i have XP i dont have that "new folder" anyway so i did not relaise it until you told that Win2k has it. I too think its illogical to search in folders that you are just going to create.j_c_hallgren wrote:But the UDC usages are for output so those make sense, whereas the three places I found it are for input (searching, etc.) so making a new folder is illogical, ok?serendipity wrote:i too dont have make new folder in the browse of find. but other places like UDC: copy to, move to and backup to have it.

Seems like you have it everywhere. This is really odd. As I said, all documentation says it is not possible. Hm.j_c_hallgren wrote:Well, let's see...I've also got "new folder" in 'Browse for Exclude' (another place it doesn't make sense)...and in 'Browse for Network Folder'...

Anybody else out there with Win2K??
