The problem is that your USB drive is not always detected as it seems. This can have many reasons. But I don't think it's XY's fault.

Hmm but wondering how explorer does it. It always shows up in tree and list and is browsable. Anyway, since its only my XY doing this i guess its something to do with my setup here. So to be frank this is just a tiny thing which doesnt bother me too much.

Tried it with a fresh INI?

And are you still saying that the drives list shows the drive but the tree does not??

Just a thought here but are you running any antivirus/malware scanner that might be scanning the drive when it's connected?

Perhaps, the scanning of the drive makes it unavailable to XY, but since Explorer is at a lower level the scanner can't prevent it from accessing the drive.

Then all of the refresh and rebuilding you are performing are enough of a delay for it to complete.

I did try f4 for tree to refresh but the drive doesnt show up. i tried f5 on my computer list and drive shows up there, but when i click i get an error.

@TheQwerty: i tried turning off the antivirus and my firewall but same result.

Ah, good. Logic still okay. So it's simply this: your USB drive does not push the right button to make the OS send out a notification to XY. Or, XY does not listen closely enough. To find this out, I would have to write a test app. No time right now.
