Browse from other applications with XYPlorer?

I just got XYPlorer. It's great, but when I save documents in applications and browse for a location, I'm given Windows File Explorer.

Is there a way to bring up XYPlorer rather than Window File Explorer, especially my Navigation Panels and Catalog? I'm not sure if I'd do that through XYPlorer, or if there is some way to declare XYPlorer as the default when other applications search the file system?

You're using a file / folder open requester, not Windows File Explorer itself.
XY cannot be used as a replacement for it.

Thanks for that. The specific thing I'm interested in is the Quick Access links that I create in File Explorer, which then seem to be available to the open requester when it is called by various applications.

So then I'm curious -- is there a way to get XYPlorer's Catalog into the open requester, instead of the File Explorer Quick Access links? As things are now, I'm using XYPlorer as my file navigator, but if I want frequently used sites to appear when I browse for locations to save files in various applications, I have to keep a second separate list of Quick Access links in File Explorer so they will appear in the open requester.

No, that's not possible. A solution could be Listary which is accessible from an open file / folder requester and from XY but you can't access XYs favorites / catalog / anything else directly...

This is kind of sideways to what you're asking, but it may help with some things.

I use the Custom File Association feature in XY very frequently to launch programs. For programs that don't have a way of passing a file or folder directly to it via a command line interface (and don't have functionality I can script for the command line), I have XY save the file or folder I'm interested in to the clipboard then open the program. I then simply paste what's in my clipboard either at first or on save.

This works beautifully for some things, including in things like Win 10's Photo app (though you have to open that with Sendkeys due to it being a metro/universal/whatever app). In Photo, I just have it copy my target directory to the clipboard with a following '\' then simply paste and type the name I want to save as when I'm done. In another program, I simply paste the directory I want into the open menu.

So...XY gets used before the file selection dialogue via the clipboard and paste, and I don't need to navigate.

(A free alternative to Listary, is Everything by Voidtools, though Listary looks more powerful in some ways and only costs $20 US. I may try it, though I'm a big Everything fan, and really, it does Everything I need it to do.)
