1) I have often wished the copy/paste action were more dynamic, in a way that user could interfere while a set of folders is being copied. For example,
I copy a huge folder "A" from Drive C:/ and start copying it to another Drive D:/. This huge folder has several subfolders a-z.
While the copy paste is half way through I realize I dont need subfolders q,r,s and t to be copied.
I should be able to skip those folders from being copied by some clickable way and still not stop the whole copy/paste process.
Some download managers or torrent or ftps apps have such facility. I think in the context of file manager this would be cool too.
2) A small thing, it would be good if XY could check the destination if it has sufficient space before attempting to copy a file/folder into that folder.
Ofcourse in the case 1) one can check thoroughly check what to copy and what not to copy before performing copy/paste. But with an advanced copy/paste i can interactively skip folders i dont need.
and in case 2) i can always check the space manually before copying something to it. But would be good if my app alerts me automatically.
I will benefit the most from case 1.
Two Copy/Paste enhancements

Those are all things that would make sense and be possible if XY was handling the file operations itself. For now it does not, but only sends them to the system (Windows).
As a result, you get all the limitations from the OS (no pause, no queue, slow speeds, no error management, etc)
If you want you could look for another tool to handle the file operation instead of Windows, that would allow such things, like SuperCopier...

SuperCopier is pretty good, but you have to know it also behaves differently than Windows and can lead to bugs, at least with the v2 beta - which is why I only activate it when I know I'll need its features.serendipity wrote:Yeah, you are right jacky. all those wishes looked like I might need a whole new app itself. wow.. supercopier looks good.
For instance, I noticed that :
- it brings the focus back to XY right after the operation is initiated, which means you don't get things like "Select On Paste" when using it
- using features such as "Move/Copy Here As..." it will not rename the item but instead create a new folder with the name specified, putting the item inside, with their original name.
Given how it works fine from XY with Windows I'm thinking those are bugs in supercopier, and I reported them a while back already but I'm not even sure if they're still working on it
But other than that, it's great to be able to switch to something that's fast, gives us control and deals with error management!
