I would like to propose that you introduce tags with dates so that for example I can tag a document that is valid for a certain time (product manual) and that after that time I get a reminder or can filter for such documents. That would be a kind of "lean" lifecylce" management for documents.
Or a tag with recurring date property so that all three months I get a notification that this document may need a revision. Maybe tags are not the ideal technical way to achieve this, but I am sure you will know how to do it best!

As well as that you can already add an Extra column, and configure it for date format, as for getting reminders when it is out of a date range, you could script that, or filter by it, or search by it.
