Auto-select first item after refresh if folder was empty

When Configuration → General → Tree and List → List → ☑ Auto-select first item is checked:

After refreshing (or auto-refreshing) the list, if the folder was previously empty (or all items were hidden) and there are now item(s) present in the folder, doesn't it make sense to auto-select the newly first item?
