I have just been using searches to find files I need which are scattered in many folders - this is a super feature.
It would be good, imo, if the tab header could be (optionally) coloured to indicate that a VF has been set. I realise you can just look at the tab contents and see this but often it is easy to overlook and make assumptions in subsequent operations which result in misleading displays.
May I suggest that in Config/Interface Colors/Tab headers there is the option to make tabs where a VF is operational a different colour.

Just to say, as you mention the tab's location will indicate the VF, in marked text color; or will be in marked text color if there wasn't enough space.
Also, the tab icon's got a nice little overlay to indicate there's a VF
(and your statusbar used marked text color as well)
