Saving tag, label & comment info without saving settings

Hello - I have my XYplorer set up at work so there is no settings-save on exit. I don't want to save the settings on exit because I need it to look exactly how I want it configured every time I start up. The problem is, I can't apply tag, label & comment info to files and expect that info to survive into the next session. Is there any way I can retain those attributes to files without saving settings and without manually editing the tag.dat file? Maybe a script or something? Thanks
