For fairly obvious reasons it's a feature of many IDEs.

Why don'r you just use the step; command instead?

Of course I use step and unstep. Extensively.

I was messing around with some debug functions that were activated by a single global variable (kind of a "debug mode") in a very long script that I add to frequently the other day. Stepping through them made it too big a hassle to use that way. I also have a fair number of little functions that simplify various things for me.

I know we're not exactly using great big function libraries here, and most scripts aren't that long. You could argue that it's unnecessary, and I'd agree with you, but it would be convenient. It's just a little wish. If it were convenient to implement, it'd be nice; otherwise, do ignore.
