OT: Torn and Frayed

Need some English ear before I turn crazy, please!

The first verse of "Torn and Frayed" by the Stones is listed all over the net and also in the songbooks like this:

I have 2 problems with this:
1) It partly does not make much sense ("wind and he's bound", huh ???)
2) I hear it partly differently (e.g. "wound and disbound", and "on the street" instead of "off the street")

Sorry even in my teens in the 60's when my hearing was much better I always had a hard time deciphering Stones lyrics...I could never understand what Jagger was singing most of the time. Good song though.

Maybe wind means "drifting in the wind" like a vagabond or a drifter. He's bound to be a drifter.... I dunno know.

Yea, I listened... I can't tell what the heck they're saying. (It was a poor recording that I found on Youtube though.)
